Pastor at Salem First United Methodist Church

About

Rev. Ethan Gregory is a newly certified IDI Qualified Administrator. He is a native Texan, but now a proud Oregonian. Rev. Ethan is an ordained elder in the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church and holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from Southern Methodist University and an M.Div. (Suma Cum Laude) from Perkins School of Theology at SMU. Throughout the last five years in Oregon, Ethan has used the IDI as a tool, both for self-discovery, personal growth, and for ministry as a queer clergy person. Ethan has served in churches of all sizes, from 8-9 people to 800-900 people in worship on a Sunday, both in Texas and in Oregon. He is currently the Lead Pastor at Salem First United Methodist Church in Salem, OR, where he is proud to be the first openly gay clergy person ever to serve at First Church in its 184-year history. In his free time, Ethan loves going for walks, traveling, and enjoying all of the delicious food in the greater-Portland and Salem areas. Ethan is also a “Swiftie,” having attended Taylor Swift’s, “The Eras Tour” three times. Ethan is delighted to help churches, church institutions, other organizations, and especially LGBTQ people along their intercultural competency journeys.
